Artist Profile

Shridhar Iyer, a self-taught artist, explores spiritual themes through his canvases. His works therefore exude a strong individualistic vocabulary and a calming resonance. They are often created from unconventional materials, such as dried grasses like khus, wheat and rice stalks, earth and coir. A master at compositional skills, his exquisitely crafted themes embody sinuous continuity, seeped in fluidity  and archly recall poses of Indian classical dance.

The overall effect is like poetry in motion, evoking a syntax that is Indian, contemporary and with an international underbelly. The artist has held over 200group shows, 15 solo shows as also ten installations. He has even dabbled in films and won major national awards and fellowships of the HRD Ministry, Government of India. He lives and works in Delhi.
