About the Artist

Kanchan Chander received her formal training in Painting and Printmaking from College of Art, New Delhi, Weisensee Kunsthochschule, Berlin. College of Art, Santiago, Chile. She has received Research Fellowship from College of Art, New Delhi and later went to study Printmaking at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, Paris on a French government scholarship.She has held solos and participated in various prestigious exhibitions in India and all over the world. Kanchan was a faculty at Art College, New Delhi from 1986 till 2005. She has participated in residencies at Braidwood, Australia and Fukuoka Museum,Japan and attended art camps in Switzerland, Singapore,China and many more countries. Amongst the awards she has received include the AIFACS award for the Women’s All India Show and the International Print Biennale Award, Bradford, UK.

Kanchan’s work form a part of many private and public collections including the collections of Lawrence Gallery, Santiago; Victoria & Albert Museum, and British Museum, London; Ecole des Beaux Arts, Paris; Fukuoka Art Museum and Glenberra Museum, Gallery Betonowy, Eugeniusza Gepperta Academia of art and design, Wroclaw, Poland; Japan; Kiran Nadar Museum, New Delhi; MOSA(Museum of Sacred Arts), Belgium: Air India, New Delhi and Arts Acre Foundation, Kolkatta. Her works have been published in prestigious art books like-Feminine Fables by Dr. Geeti Sen, Aradhnarashwar and Shringhar by Dr. Alka Pande “Forms of Devotion“ by Sushma Bahl to name a few.
