Dhana Prasad personal practice in art reflects the qualities of a versatile practitioner who rejoices in both natures expansive and its minutia fascinations. Inspired by Tota Ram (the fortune teller with a parrot) whom he observed as a child, reading out fortunes from small pieces of paper to the eager audiences, he mostly works with figurative forms of art as it is the oldest form, which started from the primitive era. All the thoughts and expressions are shown in the form of figures making it easy to convey a message. His art, mainly sketches and acrylic, portray scenes of men and women, often at work, and always in conversation. The paintings are on large canvases, and though they have some of the stylistic attributes of Madhubani art, they are strikingly unique.
A fondness of color and a matching eye for perspective give his creations a mesmerized draw. His technique with color and light imbibe the works with luminosity as is seen in his study of autumn leaves, bunched together in severe compositional geometry, while submerged in a mellow aureate palette. Elsewhere, the scenic takes enclose wide angled panorama, at once grand and yet familiar.
